Overview
Kabale is the main town of Uganda's southwestern highlands, an area of steep terraced hills that is often called the "Switzerland of Africa". It's cooler than most of Uganda and a key gateway to Bwindi's southern sectors and Mgahinga.
Just outside town is Lake Bunyonyi, a beautiful lake dotted with small islands. It's a favourite place to rest before or after gorilla trekking.
