Overview

Jinja, on the shores of Lake Victoria, is where the Nile begins, and it has become Uganda's adventure capital. It's also a relaxed town with colonial-era buildings, riverside lodges and a creative café scene.

Hydropower dams have changed some of the famous rapids, but rafting, kayaking and many other river activities still run here, along with gentler options for those who prefer calm water.
