Overview

The Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves, near Fort Portal, are named after Nyinamwiru, a princess in the legends of the ancient Batembuzi dynasty. Her story is told through the milky stalactites that hang from the cave roof.

A short walk also takes you to a waterfall and to viewpoints over the crater lakes nearby, making it a pleasant half-day trip from Fort Portal.
