What to find
The Karuma Falls rapids, wildlife spilling over from Murchison, sport fishing and quiet game viewing.
Overview
Karuma Wildlife Reserve covers about 826 km² on the southeastern edge of Murchison Falls National Park, and forms part of the Murchison Falls Conservation Area. The Victoria Nile runs through it, tumbling over the rocky Karuma Falls.
Much of Murchison's wildlife moves across the reserve, including elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, Jackson's hartebeest and many birds. Most travellers see Karuma from the Kampala–Gulu highway, but it rewards a slower stop.
