Overview

Kigali, Rwanda's capital, spreads over green hills and valleys, and is known across Africa for being clean, safe and well organised. Plastic bags are banned, and on the last Saturday of each month the whole country takes part in Umuganda, a morning of community work.

It's a very easy city to enjoy, with good restaurants, cafés, art galleries and markets. The Kigali Genocide Memorial gives essential context for understanding Rwanda today.
