Overview

Mombasa is Kenya's second city and main port, an island city with more than a thousand years of Swahili, Arab, Portuguese and Indian influence.

It's a lively mix of history and beach life: the Old Town and Fort Jesus in the centre, and white-sand beaches such as Nyali, Bamburi and, further south, Diani.
