How to get there

What to find

Flamingos (numbers vary with water levels), steaming hot springs, and dramatic Rift Valley escarpment scenery.

Overview

Lake Bogoria National Reserve protects a narrow soda lake beneath the dramatic Siracho escarpment in the Rift Valley. It's a Ramsar-listed wetland of international importance.

Its western shore is lined with hot springs and geysers that steam and spout beside the water. When conditions are right, the lake draws huge numbers of lesser flamingos. The rocky woodlands are also a good place to see greater kudu.
